It’s been a tough month for those in the waste sector. The party conferences fired the starting gun in the race to 10 Downing Street and yet waste and resource management was left on the sidelines, writes freelance writer David Burrows. Most telling perhaps was the failure of the environment secretary Liz Truss to even mention waste, recycling or resource management. Shadow environment secretary Maria Eagle also sidestepped environmental issues in favour of talking about food, farming and the countryside.
